Mother of classmate Bob McCollum

Madeline R. (Bruso) McCollum, 89 died peacefully Friday surrounded by her loving family. Madeline was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late George and Ida (LaPlant) Bruso. She grew up in Springfield and lived in East Longmeadow most of her life before moving to Barre and then Agawam. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Ames Department Store. She also was a dance instructor for Fred Astaire Dance Studio. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, and take care of her two cats. Her loving husband, Joseph McCollum died in 2009. She leaves her four sons, Joseph McCollum Jr., Robert J. McCollum, Kenneth R. McCollum and Gregory J. McCollum; a daughter Karen A. Dion; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 9:30am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper St., with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery.
