Navy Engineman First Class Gary A. Serwatka, 30, of 276 Parker Street, East Longmeadow, MA, died of natural causes Monday, December 27, 1982 in Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California.  He was stationed at Mare Island Navy Yard.

Born in Chicopee, he was a 1971 graduate of East Longmeadow High School.  Before his enlistment, he worked for Hano Business Forms, Inc. and Banner Machine Co., both in Springfield.  He played the accordian and bass guitar for numerous bands, including the Royels.

Gary was a member of the Springfield Musician's Union and Bethany Assembly of God Church in Springfield.  He leaves his parents, Stanley and Jane (Walczak) Serwatka.  The funeral wil be Monday, January 3, 1983 in the church with burial in Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow, MA.  Starzyk Funeral Home, Chicopee, is in charge of arrangements.
