Rosemary Ann Rossi, 66, passed away peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice in Port St. Lucie, FL, on February 13, 2020, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Rosemary was born in Springfield on March 13, 1953, to the late John F. and Alice (Magnani) Rossi. She graduated from East Longmeadow High School and Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, later earning a BSN from Elms College. She also earned a computer programming degree from St. John’s School of Business. A licensed RN in MA and CT, she worked for many years at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, rising to Head Nurse, and then for many years in utilization review and fraud detection for Mass Mutual and Aetna in Springfield. She also served as an instructor in the LPN program at Springfield Technical Community College. Rosemary later became full-time caregiver for her mother, who passed in 2003, and also oversaw care for her late aunt Marguerite Rossi. She regularly hosted family gatherings for holidays and special events.
In 2008, Rosemary married Richard Bourgelas. They moved to Florida in 2012, where Rosemary and Rich became the face of social events in Bedford Park in Port St. Lucie and enjoyed traveling, especially their cruises throughout the Caribbean.
Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of twelve years, Richard Bourgelas; her brother Michael and his wife Joan of Haverhill; her twin brother Charles and his wife Lynda of Monson; stepson Richard and his wife Cynthia of Northbridge; stepdaughter Laurie Bonci and her husband David of Port St. Lucie; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. A Celebration of Life was held on February 29 at Aycock at Tradition in Port St. Lucie.
